Build a Talent Pipeline

Charlotte is comprised of one of the most diverse talent pools in the region, graduating nearly 8,000 new professionals each year with a high percentage interested in staying in North Carolina and the Charlotte region.  With the Career Center as the centralized hub for the career preparation and connection of our students and alumni, they work hand-in-hand with a variety of campus departments to provide our employers with a set of curated opportunities to build a sustainable talent pipeline.  Presented below are ways that you can enhance your University-Industry collaboration with Charlotte.


 

Educational Channels:

  • Career Community Weeks: our Arts/Media/Design and Social Impact/Education/Nonprofit student communities have opportunities for professionals to speak on panels, provide 1:1 coaching, and join in on networking events. 
     
  • Pre-Law Resources: set of experiences and services to support students who have an interest in continuing on to Law School.  Opportunities for professionals to join panels and speak with students.

Specialized Experiential Learning Channels: 

  • SECU Internship Program: we a generous grant, this program allows us to fund interns for community based nonprofits in the region.
     
  • GigTraining Program: for organizations that are in need of talent for short term projects, this program provides funding and students.

Educational Channels:

  • Career Community Weeks: our Engineering/Manufacturing/Energy student community has opportunities for professionals to speak on panels, provide 1:1 coaching, and join in on networking events.
     
  • College of Engineering Programs: there are additional opportunities within the College to connect specifically with engineering students that include Freshman Learning Community, Engage ME, WE Engage, Leadership Academy, and more.
     
  • Career Center's Employer Partners Program: opportunity for you to join our efforts to provide students with career educational programs, networking events, and other creative ways to prepare talent for the workplace.  ALL funds go directly to programs and services to students.
     
  • Connections Day: annual event that attracts all levels of engineering students for networking and talent acquisition.

Specialized Experiential Learning Channels: 

  • Coop Program: engineering students are very interested in potential coop programs hosted by employers.  
     
  • Senior Design Program: The W.S. Lee College of Engineering’s Senior Design Program brings together students and industrial partners in a collaborative research environment. 
     
  • Batt Cave: The North Carolina Battery Complexity, Autonomous Vehicle and Electrification Research Center, the BATT CAVE, is driving innovation by unraveling the intricate world of batteries and their applications that will drive the next generation of autonomous vehicles, smart cities, and intelligence systems.

  • Career Center's Employer Partners Program: opportunity for you to join our efforts to provide students with career educational programs, networking events, and other creative ways to prepare talent for the workplace.  ALL funds go directly to programs and services to students.
     
  • College of Business Undergraduate Programs: programs open to business students include engagement with Belk College workshops and events, tabling events in the Friday Building (home of the Belk College of Business), special programs partnerships, and connections to student groups.
     
  • College of Business Graduate Programs: Sponsoring events that foster student and employer engagement such as on site uptown location education sessions held prior to evening classes, guest class speaker in the MS Management Program, virtual career webinars, professional headshot and networking sessions sponsorship.  Complimentary attendance or sponsorship for corporate guests at our Center for Leadership Science speaker series, or any of these Signature Events networking included.

  • Micro-Internships: partnering with Parker Dewey, employers who have projects they would like to hire a student to complete can use this vendor to attract talent.

  • Career Community Weeks: our Healthcare/Science/Research student community has opportunities for professionals to speak on panels, provide 1:1 coaching, and join in on networking events.
     
  • Undergraduate Research: office provides speaking engagements, coaching of students around research interests, and opportunities to join in the Summer Scholars Symposium and/or the Undergraduate Research Conference.  Both events attract 250+ student scholars.
     
  • Pre-Health Professions: for professionals in the health fields interested in panels, networking, and coaching students.
