Each November is the Career Center’s Alumni Takeover Month! Our goal is for Charlotte alumni to completely “take over” Career Center programming to share their wisdom and advice with students.
Professional in Residence
Our Professional in Residence program puts you directly in the Career Commons of the University Career Center where you will be our drop-in resume expert for the day. This allows our office to provide industry advice directly to students while allowing you the opportunity to brand for your organization or to give back to Niner Nation as an alum!
Career Meet Ups
Our Career Meet Ups are designed by our Career Coaching team to aid students in their career and professional development around a variety of topics. We are happy to offer the opportunity for you to "take over" those meet ups if you can fulfill the topic being offered. The basic Meet Up should be 20-30 minutes content and 10-15 minutes of Q&A. NOTE: Some Meet Ups are designed for specific audiences and some are for general audiences. Each meet up listed denotes this on the schedule.
- Lead a professional development topic chosen by our Career Coaches as part of our various theme-weeks; the Interviewing Preparation theme-week is during November
- All Meet Ups during Alumni Takeover Month are virtual and you will be connected to a Career Center staff member to confirm your commitment
- We market Meet Ups to various groups of students to learn about the professional development topic you choose
Our "Day in the Life as a Charlotte Alumni" Meet Ups are new for 2024! They are designed for alumni to share an engaging glimpse of their career trajectory and their day to day responsibilities in their role. This is an excellent opportunity for Alumni to share their story and provide insight and advice for Charlotte students. The basic Meet Up should be 20-25 minutes of content and 15-20 minutes of Q&A.
- All "Day in the Life" Meet Ups are virtual and scheduled Tuesday-Thursday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
- A Career Center staff member will connect with you to confirm your commitment and provide support for your program
- These Meet Ups will be part of the overall Alumni Takeover Month marketing and may be featured in specific communication channels based on your work experience and background
Panels
Lastly, we may offer panels during Alumni Takeover Month with 3-4 slots available for alumni panelists. Each panel will be moderated by a Career Center staff member or student. Panelists will introduce themselves and then respond to a series of prepared questions, sharing their insight and personal experiences with the student audience. These questions will be provided to panelists prior to the event. The last 10-15 minutes will be reserved for a Q&A..
