Group Internship Courses are typically 1 credit hour, half-term courses that last for 8 weeks. These courses are best for students who have not had an internship or other relevant professional experience. Check out more information below on how these courses are typically set up.

Week 1: Get Started
- Meet your project supervisor (employer)
- Get to know your student team
- Learn about the project goals, expectations, and requirements
- Begin understanding the work and asking questions
Weeks 2–7: Do the Work
- Collaborate with your team to work on the project forward
- Communicate regularly with your employer
- Break the work into milestones or stages
- Apply your skills to research, analyze, and develop solutions
Week 8: Present Your Work
- Deliver a final presentation to the employer
- Share your solution and recommendations
- Highlight the work and process your team used
The Group Internship Courses at Charlotte are new, so they’re slowly expanding to more Colleges or specific majors. Although the Career Center manages these courses and the partnership with Riipen, college-specific sections are available due to interest from that respective College’s leadership and faculty.
We kindly ask that you leave seats open for other students who have not had an internship or other professional experiences. This allows more Charlotte students to gain practical experiences that can help launch them into their early careers. We appreciate your understanding!
Most sections don’t have regular in-person class times, but may require in-person work from time to time. You will be required to check-in regularly with your project supervisor, collaborate on work as a team, and present your finalized project.
Additionally, some section instructors may require periodic check-ins as a team to provide input and feedback on your progress and professionalism. These requirements will be explained at the beginning of the course.
