Experiences below are typically shorter in duration than traditional long term experiences, ranging between 1 - 8 weeks in length with varying hours per week.
In partnership with professionals in the field, ranging from companies to alumni to campus departments, projects are available to provide you with short-term assignments that allow you to explore different roles, perform specific skill-based tasks, and help partnering organizations. You will find assignments such as operational tasks like report generation, social media and communications support, research, and more. All assignments come with a site supervisor, quick orientation, and evaluation period. Projects are geared to provide you with new opportunities to build experience and social capital that can be translated to many industries after graduation. These experiences tend to be 10 - 49 hours in length over a few weeks. Some faculty integrate projects into their courses while other projects might be completed co-curricularly. Remember to highlight course projects on your resume, join a Career Community to learn more about opportunities to join project teams, and talk with your Career Coach about strategies to incorporate these experiences into your career brand.

A micro-credential refers to a small, specialized recognition that demonstrates a person’s skills, knowledge, or accomplishments in a specific area. These credentials are typically focused on narrow, well-defined competencies and are designed to be more flexible, accessible, and time-efficient compared to traditional degree programs or larger certifications.
They are short in duration, taking anywhere from a few days to several months to achieve, developed to be relevant to industry needs, can be stackable to build up to larger qualifications, and assessment-based where learners are typically required to demonstrate their proficiency through practical tasks, experiences, and knowledge.
Micro-credentials have gained popularity as a means for individuals to upskill or reskill in specific areas to meet the evolving demands of the job market. Additionally, they provide employers with a way to identify and validate candidates’ competencies for specific roles without the need for a full-fledged degree
