Virtual Event Tips

Meet Ups

These 30-45 minute sessions typically consist of 15-20 minutes of content, 10 minutes about your organization, and 10-15 minutes of Q&A. Meet-Ups are marketed to various groups of students to learn about your organization, industry, and the professional development topic you will be presenting on.

Industry-Led Career Meet Ups

Intended for employers to use the expertise within their organization to engage students in a conversation which will aid them in their professional or career development

  • Lead a professional development topic of your choice and brand your organization in one, 30-45 minute virtual session with a small group of students.
  • Industry-led Career Meet Ups take place Monday-Thursday at 12pm and 4pm.

Career Meet Ups (Take Over)

Designed by our Career Coaching team to aid students in their career and professional development around a variety of topics. Your organization has the opportunity to "take over" meet ups presenting on the specific topic being offered. NOTE: Some Meet Ups are designed for specific audiences while others are for general audiences, and they can be in person or virtual. Each meet up listed in SignUpGenius indicates this on the schedule.

  • "Take over" a Career Meet Up with the career or professional development topic chosen by our Career Coaches. Topics can be one of our general offerings or one associated with our various theme-weeks.

Information Sessions

It is time to relate instead of recite. Maybe think about shelving the slide presentation and talk with the candidates about the essential skills you are looking for and those needed for success in your organization. This is a great format to engage with potential candidates in meaningful conversations about your open opportunities in Hire-A-Niner

Any of these are great starting points for your Information Session: Is there a current hire that can speak of their experience? What post-hire professional development can assist a candidate to grow in your organization? Is there software/technology associated with your current available opportunities? Where is your organization in relation to DEI initiatives?

To request an information session to talk with students, please do so through your Hire-A-Niner account. Select “Request New Recruiting Event” under “Quick Links” and choose “Information Session.”

Professional in Residence

Our Professionals in Residence program puts you directly in the Career Commons of the University Career Center where you will be our drop-in resume expert for the day. This allows our office to provide industry advice directly to students while allowing you the opportunity to brand for your organization or to give back to Niner Nation as an alum!

Micro-Internships

Students from all majors can execute professional assignments to build and demonstrate skills while exploring a variety of career paths through micro-internships.

Micro-Internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable Career Launchers to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build their networks as they seek the right full-time role. Unlike traditional internships, Micro-Internships can take place year-round, typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kick-off.

Niner Challenges

Niner Challenges allow UNC Charlotte students to build deep connections with organizations through short-term, mini-projects that might be virtual, hands-on, case study and more. The goal of Niner Challenges is to not only help students better understand different areas of work, but to also receive critical feedback on the content, creativity, and overall presentation of their final project from the employer sponsor. Students that engage in the Employer Challenge will also connect with employers in a way that allows them to deeply understand the organization and learn about various roles that they can recruit for in the future.

Please complete the following form information to submit your challenge request.
